Dubai transfer from terminal 3 to 1 - doable in 3 hrs 40 mins between flights? Will be arriving with Emirates and departing with Oman Air on separate tickets (presumably unable to tag luggage to final destination?). Thanks.

Most passengers would need to clear immigration in Dubai, pick up luggage and then re-check in. That said, Emeates apparently offer a service at their transfer desk prior to immigration, where you can request for your luggage to be collected and re-checked in. This apparently involves or used to involve quite a bit of form filling in. There is also a company called Marhaba meet and greet, who may be able to assist at a price. If you have a UAE visa and/or are using fast track then three hours forty minutes should be enough to clear immigration and re-check in, assumnig flights are on time.
Better still, try to get EK to link your tickets prior to departure so they can at least check your luggage all the way through to Oman, even if they cannot issue you with an Oman air boarding pass, or failing that, consider changing your Oman Air flight to Emirates, who have a number of flights daily to Muscat. This will give you much greater peace of mind.
Hope this helps

Clearly Emeates in line two should read Emirates and assumnig to assuming. Too close to bedtime here!

Emirates code-share on Oman Air's flights ex DXB, so you should be able to check your luggage all the way through, assuming your final destination is in Oman. Might not be possible if you are transitting through Muscat on to another Oman Air flight.
If Emirates can manage that, your transit time is ample, although 3h40 should still be sufficient to clear immigration and change terminals landside if necessary.

I have done Terminal 3 to Teriminal 2 (on opposite side of airport) and vice-versa and it took less than 3hr 40 min so Terminal 3 to 1 should be fine for that time. Plus, if you manage to check bags all the way through, you wouldn't even need to clear security, unless thats changed with the new terminal building and concourse
