I read an article 1 to 2 weeks ago that cited an Executive from Velocity Frequent Flyer saying there was a "big" announcement coming up but didn't want to give anything away. It had the feeling it was to do with a new partner but did not mention a thing. Does anyone else remember reading something along these lines? Surely the recent announcement of points rejig wasn't it?

It's a tie up with a supermarket... Which I believe to be Coles.

Yes, I got an email from Flybuy/Etihad this week offering me 10pct discount on Etihad Business Class fares. Hmmm.

The landscape has changed sicne that deal was brokered. The BP tie up has sent velocity mebership base through the roof, circa 8m. If you were Coles, would you value a membership base of 8m with credit card providers, and many relevant partners such as BP over a middle eastern based tie up?

That's not withstanding the fact that VA and EY are partners with EY being part owner.

I agree but I am curious if EY would allow a get out of jail free that easy.

I am hoping VA says we are now part of EY alliance :) that wil be something

Wouldn't that be interesting! but I think that would be more an airline announcement rather than the frequent flyer scheme.

Would be nice it is was to do with flying rather than rewards stuff but I think Virgin has put the cue in the rack in regards to flying and is becoming a gimmicks and promotions business unfortunately.

Found an article in "The Australian" Dec 29 2015...Mr Shcuster (Velocity Chief) said there were plans to take it to a new level next year "Watch this space - something very big is going to happen with BP next year.."
