The last 4 times I've flown they didn't play the safety video (the one with a cartoon Richard Branson signing books) but they did a manual demonstration the old fashioned way.
I thought it might have something to do with the new The Business cabin, but I just watched it on YouTube and there doesn't seem to be any info that's relevant to the old seats.
Could it perhaps be some new regulations that require everyone to look at the cabin crew instead of the monitor? Just wondering as I won't have a chance to ask again on board until May.
I was thinking exactly the same on a flight to Brisbane last week. I thought I stepped back in time to the 1990s, or to my weekly grind on a Fokker 100.
