Many cabin crew are actually employed by Qantas subsidiary Jet Connect, which is based in NZ.
Whilst I'm a regular on Jet Connect flights from AU to NZ I wasn't aware they travelled further until I sat beside a (lovely) crew member who was transiting home from her weekly assingnment of AKL-SYD-JNB-SYD.
From my experience, the Jet Connect crew are absolutely fabulous - very service oriented and a pleasure to engage with.
PS. If you fly into AKL, have a look at the growing crew training facility located near the shopping complex outside the airport - its a major facility that is training lots of crew!
This is not actually correct. There are still 2 unrefurbished 747s in operation, VH-OEB and VH-OJM. While they primarily operate the SYD-HND and SYD-JNB flights, they regularly cycle through other 747 routes, including all of the Pacific routes. You would be fairly unlucky to get one on QF95 considering there are 9 refurbished 747s but there is still a chance. I think BNE-LAX has the lowest chance of a non-refurb of any flights across the Pacific.
QF95 appears to be almost exlusively 747-400ERs, (all of which are refurbished). I found just one occurence of VH-OEB on this route in the last 6 months.
I believe the 747-400 that flies BNE-LAX is often the one that ends up on the QF11 from LAX to JFK and is very often one of the non-refurbished 747-400s. I experienced it in January (forgot the registration, but the plane was named Gosford). Delivered to QF in 1991 I think. Not a nice plane inside.

Is the aircraft on this route a refurbished 747-400 or old interior

All B744 QF flights across the Pacific are operated on refurbished 744s. Your crew will probably be AKL-based crew.

I'd say 95% chance a refurb.
I was unlucky enough to hit OEB on QF11 SYD-LAX last December.
