Hi all - will be flying in to MXP 21SEP16 on EY, ETA 0740. Have flown out of that place, but never in before. We need to get to Florence by rail. The Airport Express seems to leave every hour at 13 minutes past the hour. Would catching the 0913 train be doable?
Thanks in anticipation.

Would think so - its a relatively small airport and Euro immigration is generally pretty quick

Probably more of a personal preference, but I would go for the 10:13. Allows more time if late into MXP and still gives a good arrival time in Florence if checking into a hotel (not early check-in). Also allows time in MXP to stretch legs and have a bite to eat.

Yeah I'd go for the 10:13 as well, 9:13 might be doable but you will have to carry that stress all the way to MXP and if there's a delay then forget about it. I haven't been to Europe after the refugee situation so can't comment on immigration lines but I'll suspect they do more checks now.

Immigration lines are a touch longer, as they process people a touch more stringently, in light of the recent activities in Belgium. However, Wife and I have still got through reasonably quick. Just ensure you have all the information pertaining to your trip and return to hand in case they ask. Although, being Italy, they might not even care.

Thanks all - will do the 1013 train. We would have an on-line rail ticket which may not be transfereable so the later train will make for less stress.
Appreciate the assistance.

Malpensa Express does not have assigned seating, so you can easily take an earlier train to Milan, if you make it out of the customs earlier.
Laat time I took MXP express, I boarded an earlier train then my online ticket states and the conductor did not bat an eyelid.
It may be more difficult on your train to Florence, if it has assigned seating.
Have fun.

Thanks again for that dimi. I have just received my early bird notice from Italiarail advising seats are now bookable. The schedule has the Express arriving at MXP Central at 5 past the hour, and the train to Florence leaving 15 minutes later. Assume that means I can book the whole trip 1013-1259, and if we get thru the process early, can take the 0913 Express and get to Florence an hour earlier?
