I'm a velocity platium and my partner and I are flying premium economy from BNE to LAX late August, and then back in September.
We have tried to upgrade using points, and are currently waitlisted. Someone mentioned earlier, and reading hte FAQ confirms it, that if business class upgrades become available, and you're on the waitlist, you're not automatically given the seat. I've tried to find a way to check online, and as far as I can tell the only way to check for availablity is to call Virgin randomlly between now and when we fly.
Is this correct, or am I misisng something? I really hope I'm missing something obvious.
I did the same with you, booked Premium to upgrade to Business class only to find there was only waitlisting avaiable, waitinglisting doesn't upgrade you until close out to your departure date.
I decided to remove myself from the waitlist and there was availability to upgrade to business instantly.
You can now upgrade through manage your booking with no need to contact Velocity by clicking 'upgrade using velocity points'.
You can check availability at any time online by searching for "business reward" seats. If there is availability, then call up to request and confirm upgrade.
