American based airlines refer to business class as 'first class'. e.g. On American Airlines's 737's , the business class section is refered to as First Class.
HA actually name their premium cabin differently depending on where the plane is flying. If you bought a SYD-HNL ticket you would be purchasing a business class ticket where as if you purchased a HNL-NYC ticket you would be purchasing a first class ticket.
If you purchased SYD-NYC with HA you would see 1 sector listed as business and the other as First.

Seeing that HA are reconfiguring their J to 'lie flat beds' on their 330's...
Whats happening to their F? If they're keeping it I would be appaled by the hard product compared to their J.

There isn't a business class section. The first class section is in fact the first class!
This perception of a fixed notion of what a first class or business class ought to be is just that, a perception.
