Your question doesn't make sense tmum...why would travel insurance be related to or cover a loyal points redemption?

Assuming you are talking about flights, the answer is yes. Covermore says this in their PDS.
You have to cancel the Journey (where You cannot rearrange it prior to leaving Home) We will pay You:
for frequent yer or similar flight reward points lost following cancellation of Your airline ticket. The amount We will pay is calculated as follows:
(i) the cost of the equivalent class airline ticket, based on the best available advance purchase airfare at the time the claim is processed, less Your nancial contribution towards the airline ticket multiplied by
(ii) the total amount of points lost divided by
(iii)the total amount of points used to obtain the airline ticket.

Thanks a bunch for the response(s). My question is applicable to my situation as well as philosophical.
My situation: My laptop/tablet were damaged while travelling. The laptop/tablet were purchased with QFF points. I have travel insurance.
My question: If they (incl. covermore) think airline points are redeemable for booking, they must think that they're valid currency. Using the same logic, they must be valid as proof of "purchase"...
Thoughts?

I don't see how that'll be an issue, just provide your proof of purchase with your claim. A transaction took place, the currency being your points.

Great question, I haven't taken into account the insurance implications booking on points. Rely on my Amex for insurance coverage normally.
