my partner and I are flying from TXL to MEL on Saturday via AUH with Airberlin and Etihad. I am flying business and she is flying economy. Lounge access is not at all important to me in Berlin (the Air France lounge at TXL is horrific), however I would really like us to enjoyt the premium lounge at AUH together. I only have silver status with Airberlin, so am not entitled to gues someone in with entry.
My question is, does anyone know how likely it is for the lounge dragons to let my parter in with me on a discretionary basis?
My understanding is that you need to have Platinum membership to guest into the Premium lounge and that the Lounge attendants strictly enforce this. You may have more luck at the Al Reem Lounge in Terminal 1, which is normally where they send Gold and Silver members flying in Economy.
However, as it is Ramadan, and if you are travelling during the day-time, the Premium lounge is comparatively quiet — very quiet in fact. So you may have a glimmer of hope.
Though my question is - forgive the nosiness – is: Why is your partner in economy? I could not imagine my wife ever forgiving me if i put her in economy whilst i luxuriated away in Business!
I can't speak for VC, but my partner also is porepared to do the same - she'd rather spend the difference on jewellry and/or clothes. I don't wear jewellry and how many suits or jeans can a guy wear..... :)
