Have all the older Finnair A340s with the angled-flat seats and tiny screens been sent to the glue factory in the sky now, or are some dragged back into service when needed? My A350 has been down-graded to an A340, so I'm hoping it's at least a refurb...

AY has placed its last of the three 343s wih the older cabin config(i.e. angled lie-flat in J) in permanent storage about 2 mths ago. Typically, 'permanent storage' means an airframe canNOT act as a std-by for last minute backup.
"..dragged back into service when needed?"
Possible but rare especially when AY is due to take delivery of 359 x6 by end17. Anyway, will usually take 1-2mths to reactivate airframe in perm storage for pax duties(i.e. std-by, charter or even scheduled).

Only four 343s remain in AY fleet and all of them hv horizontal flatbed in J(And only 5 window seats don't hv direct aisle access). U didn't mentioned your departure point but aside fm seasonal-only destinations, AY now deploy these 343s mostly only to SIN and KIX/NGO or on std-by as 359 backup.
I also flew an A340 SIN-HEL in June. The seat arrangement was 1-2-1. The seat was also fully flat. It was quite good, although I would prefer to try A350 of course.

Impossible as 1-2-1 is only for some rows. 5 rows hv 2-2-1. Check Fleet section(Skip airframe OH-LQA which is already in perm storage) on finnair.com if U don't believe it.

Is yours SIN-HEL? If so, it will be a refurb one. One way to confirm is to go to manage booking on Finnair website and check the seat selection.

That's what I've heard. I flew an A340 SIN-HEL three weeks ago and it was the fully flat seat version in J.
