What is the best credit card for earning frequent flyer points? Ideally one that earns Air New Zealand Airpoints but I understand that isn't so easy in Australia so Qantas points would do

Hi aklrunway, we haven't done a piece on the best cards for earning NZ Airpoints, but you may find these useful:
Note though that with the KrisFlyer article, Westpac is changing its Altitude:SQ conversion rate from 2:1 to 2.5:1 from late September, so the Altitude Black cards would earn the equivalent of 1.2SQ/$1 on the AMEX and 0.5SQ/$1 on the MasterCard.
(In the same token, if you opt for the Diners Club card, you could boost your SQ earn by 25% by first shipping your Diners points to SPG and then converting your SPG points into KrisFlyer miles with SPG's 5k bonus for every 20k points converted, which takes the Diners Club earn to 1.875SQ/$1.)

Westpac World card is the best if you're flying internationally a lot for work but its not for everyone. $395/yr but $65 to 1 APD when spending overseas and I think $75 in NZ which is the same as kiwibank. I think SP earn is 225/$
You get SPG gold for a year after a stay, hertz gold plus? priority pass - great if you travel to places with this. Auckland has the emperior lounge, Oz has Cairns. I have a feeling there is another in NZ.
Kiwibank platinum is otherwise good for spend in NZ for SP earn at 1 SP/$200 and I think $1 APD per $75
You get discounted koru club membership also with some of these cards (look at ANZ, Westpac, and kiwibank), Air NZ just left BNZ. There is a westpac debit card also with poor earn.
for QF there is only ANZ - there is a visa platinum card with 1:1 up to 20,000 points then 0.5. No sign up bonuses recently except waiving the card fee.
Most of the cards fees apart from westpac are $150/yr
Nothing for VA or any other airline in NZ I can think of. The air NZ ones stand out because you can earn status points with them which can make a big difference to your tier depending on how much you put through the card but I think you could recruit your other half to spend through it also.
