I'm a Platinum flying QF LAX to MEL. My upgrade to First request has been submitted by a Chairman's Lounge and P1 member. When will Qantas consider the request?
All international upgrades are processed days out from the flight, as a Platinum member i was notified last week of an upgrade from LAX to SYD 6 hours prior to the scheduled departure time, i've also been given notification at check-in.
As a P1 I recently did this for family. I was not sure how it worked so I called QF to understand how it all worked. In summary this was my understanding.
Passengers that are CL and P1 status start to be reviewed 7 days out.
Passengers with P status start to be reviewed 3 days out. At this point in time your CL/P1 upgrade request will kick in, there are lots of factors that seem to play into the upgrade process e.g. solo travelers, special meal requests, linked bookings etc. It all seemed complicated however, what I understood was that you may be at the top of the upgrade list.
I am watching the upgrade I put in for family with interest to see how it pans out.

pretty sure if submitted by a p1 it will come up as a p1 request which i think can be confirmed upto 7 days before departure
