I doubt it. I think BNE-DXB-LHR could be one of those "long and thing" routes that AJ flagged the dreamliner for. But has covered below, the Emirates tie up covers a lot of the volume and the code share measures were loud and proud in yesterday's results release.
Given EK do an A380 service out of Brisbane already, I'd struggle to see that the partnership would fill two of them. Dreamliner to the states is possible if they want to compete with VA. It would make sense to use the 787 on routes where QF needs to compete with new planes and products though, which Brisbane doesn't necessarily attract.
You can't say BNE doesn't attract! Thai started the 787-8 last year as well as Etihad with the -9. Air Canada also uses a -8 and bringing the -9 on in October!
Hold your horses! Yes, EY use their 787 and thats a boon. If you think about airlines that directly compete with QF - SQ, CX (ie popular with business travellers) they still keep relatively old options on the Brisbane route with no signs of updating it. There's only so much of a market outside of SYD and MEL for big planes like A380s and with a more restricted market, its less worthwhile for airlines to use flagship aircraft like A380 and A350 on Brisbane routes. There's not NO attraction, simply LESS attraction.
