I will be commuting between Port Macquarie and Brisbane for the next few months, and my preferred option is to fly Qantas via Sydney.
On a Friday night, Qantas has a 7.55pm flight out of Port that gets into Sydney at 9.10pm. Ideally I would like to be on the last flight out of Sydney to Brisbane which departs at 9.45pm.
However, when searching on Qantas for ‘Port Macquarie to Brisbane’ that combination of flights is never provided. My only thought is that Qantas may be reducing its risk of a delayed Port Macquarie flight that would require them to overnight me in Sydney. Is the connection time of 35min too tight and therefore never offered? The only other alternative is a 5.15pm departure from Port which is not a possibility for me.
Could anyone shed some light on this, as it is the absolute preferred method of getting home as opposed to flying out on a Saturday morning.
Per Patrick's comment - the connections are too tight hence Qantas won't offer the option of a multi-sector flight. From memory you'll need at least 60+ mins of connection time to find multi-sector options.
Thanks Mark. I spoke to Qantas this morning and they cofirmed their hard rule is no connection time under 40mins will be ticketed. PQQ-SYD-BNE is a connection time of 35min. Just missed out.
