Hi David L,

Sorry to hear about your dramas... Your question is a tad vague though. What - specifically - did you encounter at Dubai? I presume QF was the onward carrier from DXB.

  • Were you there on a short layover, or had you actually stopped for a break in Dubai?
  • Were you trying to collect tickets from the internal transfer desk, or from the departures check-in counters?
  • Were you alone, or part of a group booking? (And did you book it yourself directly with the airline, or thru a 3rd party travel agent/site?)
  • What airline had you transferred from?
  • What information was passed on to you at the time of this "nightmare"?

If you could expand on the problem you faced that'd help...

Perhaps we could then give feedback to you + others on how to best manage (or even mitigate) such problems in the future.

Happy flying :)

Hi David,

Not sure if your circumstances were similar but we did face an issue when trying to board an EK flight from Dubai to the US as the boarding passes had been printed by Qantas. Apparently for entry into the US these had to be issued by the carrier operating the flight and the EK staff trying to board us faced all sorts of issues trying to re-print the boarding passes for us on Emirates branded passes.

There were a number of people trying to sort it out, numerous calls etc. Ended up only taking about 10 minutes though to sort out which obviously slowed our boarding but nothing too dramatic.

Is this similar to your experience?

Cheers

I had Singapore Airlines reissue a boarding pass without me asking. I had originally booked on VA and commenced with a domestic leg to Sydney, and when I presented my VA issued boarding pass for entry to the Sydney SQ lounge, they took one look at it and after a couple of taps on the keyboard handed me a SQ branded boarding pass. I wasn't even expecting it. I guess this is how it's meant to work, and it's only happened to me once. Don't know what QF/EK are doing wrong.
