Flight leaves AA T4, where you've got the Admirals Club. But with the tunnel between TBIT and T4, you could go through the hassle of using the QF lounge at TBIT.
I wouldn't though if I were you. I personally don't find it worth the hassle. But other people, so affronted by the Admirals Club, may find the trek more tolerable than the Admirals lounge experience.
Then again I enjoy American drip coffee and views of the tarmac from T4. You don't get any views from the QF TBIT lounges.

Thanks for the info TRB. I'm not a coffee drinker, so that doesn't bother me :)
I'm looking for somewhere to relax before the flight and maybe have a drink or snack.
Do you know how early you can get access to the lounge before your flight? Is it the the usual 3 hours prior when the flight opens?

I believe the T4 Admirals club is open from 4am.
In all instances, I've been let in more than 3h prior to my flights.
So dramas for coming early - although its not a lounge you'd want to spend a lot of time at!
QF TBIT lounge opens at 6am. I'm not too well versed in the method of access to the TBIT lounge via the tunnel from T4. But again I've presented at that lounge more than 3 hours prior, when flying from TBIT and have had no trouble in all instances to gain access.

The hassle of walking though the tunnel to the TBIT to the Qantas lounge is well worth it.
You want a drink / snack?
At the Admirals lounge they'll kindly pass you a drinks voucher to redeem at the bar. Snack wise, you'll fine some soups, nuts, carrot sticks, cookies etc.
At Qantas, you'll order from the bar without a voucher. And have a wider buffet selection of food and deserts to choose from. AA admirals lounges are a step below QF domestic clubs...I was reminded of this yesterday.
Views of runways are nice... which you won't get at QF TBIT, but when you travel enough, you've seen planes on a runway before.

Thanks for the addition Hutch. The flight doesn't leave until around 9pm and at my current pace I'll be there around 3pm, I should have time to check out both.
Runway views aren't a selling point for me, I highly value peace & quiet and comfort above other factors.

Don't biz class flyers on AA get into the AA Flagship lounge in T4? Or is that purely status based?

Flagship access is available for First Class, AA EXP on non-North American (except Mexico city)/Caribbean routes and OWE only.
