This week I flew LATAM from Sao Paulo to Santiago in Economy (I’m a Qantas platinum member (Oneworld Emerald)). When I checked in there were two options for priority check in. The first option had a sign saying ‘Premium Business / Premium Economy / Black Signature (equivalent to Qantas Platinum One). There was also a ‘Oneworld Priority’ sign but the Emerald logo had strangely been stickered over.
The other options had a sign saying ‘Check-in Preferencial’ and had the ‘Oneworld Priority’ sign with the Emerald/Safire/Ruby logos.
I tried checking in using this first queue but was told I was ineligible.
I found this strange given that with other Oneworld carriers an Emerald member normally has access to First Class check in (or the best available check in option). Is this against the Oneworld alliance agreement or are the individual airlines free to set their own rules?

I think this is LaTam creating its own rules. Remember, this is the airline that bar Emeralds into their First class lounges at GRU. Trying to be another QR without the caché.
