Hi travellers, I'm United Airlines Platinum , Star Alliance Gold. I haven't taken a single eligible flight on UA this year and so will loose my Platinum status in January. Do you think I will be busted back to entry level (lowest tier) or will I just be moved down the rung to Gold? (thereby keeping by Star Alliance status?)
Don't know for sure how United works but another Star Alliance carrier Air NZ moves you down to the next highest tier. Then if you continued to not retain status you would move on down until you hit the lowest rung in the ladder.

I can confirm I got busted from Platinum right back to 'Member' IE no status. Harsh but fair I suppose as I have stopped flying them.
