Fiji airways has sub $4000 for business class to the US. The agent on the phone told me the flights do not have qantas codeshare.
I had a look at the qantas website and it has QF numbers for that aircraft. If i booked it through FJ, would it mean the QF flight number will be on the boarding pass (status credits are 40 one way on FJ, but 80 on QF flight number between BNE-NAN).
When you book, the flight number shown on the website is what will be on your ticket so if the Fiji website has no options for QF numbers, you'll get the lower status credit haul.
All Fiji Airways flights from Australia to Fiji and then Fiji to the US have a QF codeshare which can only be booked by QF.
Don't expect any discounts...
I've used the dates outbound 9 May and returning 18 May.
Business Class on Fiji Airways is AU$4401
The same flights and same cabin on a QF codeshare are $12888
Yes that's AU$8487 more... and as far as I know the only perks are more points/status credits and the ability to use the QF lounge at LAX airport (if you are a QF Club, Gold, Plat or Plat1 only) instead of the FJ partner one upstairs.
If you have particular dates in mind and would like to find the price of the QF codeshare flights then go to the Qantas website and enter a multistop booking from BNE-NAN then NAN-LAX (or whichever city you want) then LAX-NAN then NAN-BNE but you'll need to make sure the dates are correct.
No SC even with QF code. You go book with CX (via Hong Kong), JL (via Tokyo) or QR (via Doha).
Lounges in LA: There's something called Los Angeles International Lounge for ELAL, Air Tahiti Nui, Fiji Airways, Philippine Airlines J and JAL Premium Economy. QF F lounge for oneworld Emerald on QF coded.
No clue what btaus means by "No SC even with QF code".
Flights =marketed= as QF will earn QF points and status credits as if these were proper QF flights.
Note that Qantas showing codeshare is available for the same flight is NOT enough.
You must make sure that QF, not Fiji Air flight code is =on your booking=.
Note that if you buy your ticket from Fiji Airways, it will be marketed by Fiji and you not get any Status Credits.
You can also try booking two separate itineraries through Qantas - from Australia to Fiji and from Fiji to the US (both with QF flight numbers on your booking). That may be significantly cheaper, although you are running the risk of not making the connnection in Fiji. Also try booking through third-party websites, such as Expedia.

So the Nan-Lax sector on Fiji operated services earns 140 SC, the same as QF codeshare flights??
