Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone has flown on the 789 and a 388 in J. From everything that I can see both are called business studio's but are the exactly the same product? ie. space, ife, comfort?

Just wanted to hear from someone that has flown on both.

Thanks!!

I thought they were exactly the same seat but according to SeatGuru, Etihad's A380 business class seat is 20 inches wide but on the Boeing 787 it's 22 inches. Apart from that they are the same. But there are more pronounced differences in legroom and comfort in each plane depending on where you're sitting.

Personally, I found the A380 set up to be staggered slightly better - on the 787 you are looking directly at someone else facing you across the aisle when you turn your head. The A380 setup has the seats staggered a little differently between the centre and window columns and feels a bit more private as the seat and dividers hide the person diagonally opposite you. I found the footwell actually felt a little wider on the A380 as well.

As above - seat and direction play a big part, all of my seating was in the central couples pair, and observations are based on that.

IFE is identical, seat controls as well, its an excellent product IMO.

If travelling solo, choose a window seat if able, but ensure it's one actually against the window as it's more private. The window seats that are exposed to the aisle are not that private, but the true window seats feels more suite like as the row behind you has their foot console blocking the aisle from you. This is especially good for when sleeping as you can't see/hear people walking by.......either way they have one of the best J I've ever seen. I'm a huge fan of their J class.
