Hi all. I have a very high credit card spend and am looking at putting some points elsewhere than qff, where I am platinum and have about 1.5 million points. I use my points to fly 2-4 pax to Asia and Europe in j. I am unlikely to accrue decent status elsewhere. Which star alliance airline has best award availability? I love the award requests with qff but am unlikely to benefit from this elswhere

For mine, KrisFlyer is hard to beat. Never had issues with availability and that's with zero status. Have done numerous flights, some RTW in J and F with SQ and also their alliance partners. Plus the 15% discount for online bookings on SQ metal is a bonus also.

if your looking to put away credit spend, why not just opt to put it all in to amex MR or Altitude westpac so it stays transferable and you can decide which program at the time of need. you can always use expert flyer to find award space.

Hi obanpointer, I think the partner airline and own airline availability is reasonable with SQ Krisflyer, although TG Royal Orchid Plus do some crazy things with wide availability on their own flights when you'd think they wouldn't. But having said that, SQ wins over the two from an ease of use perspective. You can book instantly by phone last minute for partner flights, or online for SQ flights with the online 15% discount mentioned above. TG ROP restricts Fflyer or upgrade bookings in some cases to 24hours before and are not especially helpful..no online booking discount either. That's a good enough reason to use SQ's KF. Also with SQ KF but not TG ROP, you can transfer to/from Virgin AU if needed, plus of course take advantage of any card sign-up bonuses with Velocity then transfer to SQ afterwards.
