SYD <-> HKG flights were gone on 20/Mar. A misfire? Although, HKG <-> MEL flights are still there.

Okay I have no idea about what's happening -- maybe the whole thing is a joke. Now there is a new flight from MEL to HKG (as of 19/Mar), along with VA87:

Yes, they are there. Search for "SYD to HKG" on Google and you'll have it.

(There's no VA 83??? Is the aircraft that should be VA83 flying into a city in China and then back in SYD?)

It is not cord sharing. It is not Virgin Atlantic. It is VA -- or is it?

BTW, VOZ80/81/82 are already on Flightaware -- operated by using an A330-200. (screen capture attached)

BTW2, MEL <-> HKG flights have been shown on google since 15/Mar

There's a curfew problem with VA80!

It does seem a bit weird... not sure if it's a glitch. It's on FlightAware for take-off tomorrow and Wednesday (i.e. in 4hrs)...

Yes... VA's website still provides no direct flights to hkg for booking. Hard to tell what's happening since the information is too detailed to be a glitch.

Let's guess -- maybe someone in VA is trying to update the flight database at ICAO or somewhere else, which then feeds the information to Google and Flightaware etc.

VA also only has 7 flights/week to HKG from IASC. Either VA80 or 82 can't happen.

It might be a practice run flight.. fully crewed but no passengers.

If you search MEL to HKG on google, VA86 and VA87 also come up but nothing on the return.

When do they launch? Are these daylight savings timings?

Not thrilled with their MEL-HKG timetable.

The MEL-HKG is similar to CX134 which is Cathay's least busy MEL-HKG service on account of the early departure time.

The HKG-MEL is the exact same departure time as QF30 and not long after CX135. Both of these flights are popular because they get you into Melbourne first thing, but they are terrible for sleeping if you are on Hong Kong time. The timing of these flights only make sense when you are transiting from somewhere else and are either ready to sleep or don't need to.

Obviously it is a nightmare getting slots at HKG but my dream timetable would be a flight leaving MEL at lunchtime to get to HKG in the early evening and a return leaving HKG about 11pm so you can get a good night's sleep and still arrive fairly early. But I don't think it'll happen until they finish the third runway at HKG.
