I haven't had experience with Emirates before, but usually if the airline already has check-in gates open for an earlier flight, they will check your bags in for you if you've already checked in online and within about 5 or 6 hours before your flight's scheduled departure.
That's how I do it when I fly overseas with Qantas, so I can experience the First Lounge in Sydney, it truly is the world's best airline lounge. This applies to my experience on Qantas, Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand.
