Recently was in the Sydney VA lounge and they are running a Nespresso pop-up in replacement of their usual barista manned coffee machines.
I spoke to the lounge staff and they said it was only running in Sydney, and only for the month of April, however if successful Virgin may extend (replace?) or rollout to other lounges. They have a dedicated staff member surveying where you can rate your experience (on exit of the lounge).
Anybody know more on this? Seems a massive step backwards to go from barista-made to pods. Especially as currently they still have a lounge staff member making the coffee, so I can't imagine it would cut costs that much.
At the volumes they do Nespresso economics don't really stack up (pods v labour plus beans). If line ball hopefully the environmental impact of pods would be enough to see them stick with beans.

April is now over - are the "traditional" machines back? Or was the trial "successful"?

I've been a few times this week and pods were nowhere to be seen (thankfully), just the usual barista.
