I've noticed on a recent arrival into Sydney, that Qantas offers a Domestic Transfer service from International terminal to Domestic T3. I was wondering if Qantas can recheck baggage at this facility, as in: i'm travelling into Sydney on a separate ticket, and on a different airline than Qantas, so my bags won't be tagged to my final destination. As a result, can I still use this transfer facility, and can they then completely recheck my bags with different bag tags, etc? Any advice/experience would be great.

AFAIK the Qantas Domestic Transfer desks in the International terminal function as normal domestic check-in desks. So you can just turn up there with your e-ticket or QFF card, check in and drop your bags, and catch the free shuttle bus to the Qantas domestic terminal, provided you are booked on a Qantas domestic flight.

CBR boy is correct. Grab your bag, clear formalities then head for the QF transfer desk.

you don't need your Qantas e-ticket or QF ff card, just your name will suffice & some id.Many airlines have interline agreements with Qantas, so you might even be able to tag your bags from origin to destination, but still have to walk them thru customs in SYD. This was easier until more recently, when have noticed sometimes going to USA via SYD, on ff ticket to SYD & paid ticket from SYD, that some check in staff will tag bags all the way & others won't.

Went through yesterday and can confirm CBR boy is correct - it's just a normal check-in area but there's a bus between there and the terminal
