I have noticed QF no longer list opening hours of their Qantas Clubs on the website. Instead it now reads " open one hour prior to each Qantas service until last Qantas departure " . I get the impression more lounges particularly in regional areas will start replicate the situation in Townsville where it closes for long periods if a QF flight isn't taking off within an hour, in Townsville now it is closed for 4 hours between 11.00 - 15.00 on most days.
Given that the regional lounges tend to be self serve, if QF could find a way to regulate entry without using staff, then longer opening hours would be at low cost.
Yes that's a good point, Rocky, Glad, etc are all pin entry available all hours when the airport is open, it gives access to clean toilets, snacks, coffee, papers, magazines etc, I just don't see how QF can completely close a lounge like Townsville for 4 hours despite 2 Jetstar flights ( no QF offered) and a codeshare Airnorth service departing during that period. I paid $700 for a one way QF ticketed fare to Darwin on Airnorth and the lounge is closed, terrible service.
