Hello everyone, can anyone please explain the following: I'm flying ADE-DXB-GLA in September and then returning DUB-DXB-ADL in October. I'm flying on a QF ticketed EK flight. When I booked the flights through QF, Â the booking has allocated the 2 of us our seats (we're in cattle class) on the DUB-DXB-ADL leg home but I cannot select anything for the outward journey on QF but QF directs me to the EK website. On the EK website, EK are asking $55 to select seats for ADL-DXB and $35 for DXB - GLA. Why free issue of seats on one leg but costing for seat selection on the departing flights? Thanks in advance.
I've had issues with seat selection for EK-metal, QF-coded flights before and they're correct that to select seats requires you to contact EK - as for pricing and whether you should be paying, that depends on your fare bucket, but I do recommend you call EK.
If you buy an economy SAVER fare with Emirates, you are paying the cheapest fare possible. What comes with that is limited refunds, inability to upgrade using Skywards miles AND the inability to choose seats without paying to do it. If you buy an economy FLEX fare, you pay I for it and amongst other I you have complimentary seat selection. I suspect you have purchased SAVER seats in one direction and FLEX seats seats in the other
Apologies for incoherent text. I'm in Warragul and slow internet can't keep up with my typing! What I was trying to say is FLEX fares cost more and amongst other things this fare allows you complimentary seat selection
I understand that if you hold Skywards Silver, you can get free seat selection regardless of the fare, or who you booked it through.
Is this true?
And if so, has anyone ever tried to get free seat selection (on a QF sale flight using Emirates metal) using their Qantas Silver membership?
The reason I ask is that Emirates customer service always claim that "Qantas high value members can enjoy same benefits on Emirates Airlines as they do on Qantas". So if they don't allow status matches between the two frequent flyer programs (due to alliance b/w Qantas and Emirates), then logic would suggest it would be reasonable for Emirates to offer free seat selection for QFF Silver members (in the same way that Skywards Silver members can)?
Anyone have any experience with this?
