I realise there are a few threads on QFF Comp'd but none with my specific situation so hoping to get some advice.
Cliff notes:
1. Relocated to HK last Dec for a new role and will be here for 1-2 years before moving back to Sydney.
2. Very sporadic flying, mainly on CX for regional Asia coverage but always with QFF number on BP.
3. Residence/Address/Mobile on QFF profile is in HKG since I've given up my rental in Syd.
4. Currently at approx. 10k SCs earned over last 3 years (QFF since July 2014, was P1 for 2 years).
5. No forward bookings on QF at this point and unlikely until Christmas or thereabouts.
6. Currently well below at approx. 400 SC of 1200 SC required to retain QFF Plat.
Wondering what are the odds / if QF still offer comps?
What is the best course of action here - do I wait for QFF to approach me via email/mail or should I ring them up to beg for an extension year of QFF Plat before I drop to LTS at the end of this month?
I may be wrong, but I believe Qantas give you a "Soft landing" so if you're presently Platinum One and you don't earn enough status credits to retain status you will fall down to Platinum rather than all the way back to bronze or silver. Likewise if you're presently Platinum you would fall down to Gold rather than all the way back to Bronze (or in your case, Silver).
That said, given your 10,000 SC in 3 years I imagine you'd be in with a good shot at being comp'd a free year of Platinum rather than falling to Gold.
I was looking likely to not earn Gold one year, and Qantas sent out a pack saying I had been offered complimentary Gold for another year (I was only about 50SC off). I earned it anyway in the end but it's made me wonder each year now whether I need to bust my arse to keep earning it back now that I have moved to New Zealand and flying AirNZ is so much easier.

I'm keen to understand why this is even a dilemma for you. Why is QF Gold important enough to you that you would consider making (apparently) suboptimal choices to keep it?
Just thought I'd share an update on my situation in case someone else has similar questions in the future.
T-3: I rang up QFF Service Centre. First guy I spoke to said nothing can be done, but he would speak to his supervisor and call me back same day. Never got a call back.
T-1: I rang them again, spoke to a lovely lady who looked into it for me. Learnt that their "T&Cs" do not allow manual intervention for waiving SC requirements for upgrades/maintenance.
However, their "System" would do some math based on last 3 years of travel history and SC earned. So she was "99%" confident that the system would retain me on Plat. But worst case, I would drop to Gold even though I had not earned 700 SC, and then to call them up again to plead my case.
T + 1: Logged into QFF and see that Plat was renewed for another year automatically.
QFF - Looks like there is hope for you after all.
Thanks all for your advice.

I had a renewal at 700 SC last year, as my three year average for 1400 per year. I suspect with yours being 10,000 over three year you may be ok...
