As I understand it, there is an MOU to look at building a DoubleTree in Townsville. Nothing definite, just looking at whether it will commercially stack up.
Elizabeth Quay and Fremantle are on the cards too in Perth. Excellent!
Elizabeth Quay (or Waterfront) is under construction, although only just!.
On the plus side, the two DoubleTrees in Perth (Northbridge, Waterfront) are listed by the developers as having Executive Lounges, a notable absence from the Parmelia Hilton!
So it's a Doubletree by Hilton, not a Hilton. Slightly more upmarket than Embassy Suites, but not the same as a Hilton branded Hilton, if you get what I mean.

A Double Tree but very welcome if it goes ahead, considering the tired state of most of the accommodation in Townsville I am sure it will be popular.
