MEL-ZRH by QF PE in second half of June next year put you back for $6019 and partially you have to fly Y. The same route by AY in BUSINESS will cost about $5700. By JAL BUSINESS about $6000 and by CX BUSINESS about $6400. Should I put any more comments?

I am OK with PE but it should be about 50% more comparing to Y - IMHO it not worth even one extra cent. Twice more above Y and you came dangerously close to some excellent offer in J, 3 fold from Y (like QF) and I cannot get what their marketing team doing.

Every airline has bizarre pricing buckets from time to time. Probably not worth a specific whinge.

You may be right. But then I will argue that QF has most bizarre one - not they almost always most expensive in J without any reason, but they also have very unjustified proportion between Y, PE and J. Of course YMMV.

If I was operating an airline like QF with a loyal base who will fly with me no matter what price I place on my seats, why wouldn't I charge a premium?

Not sure why you would want to fly QF MEL - ZRH in PE, is it via LHR on the 787 ?  I would be looking at CX, SQ or LH.

I flew MEL-ZRH on CX in June and return in July from LHR all for $3600 in PE,

I would love to fly QF where ever I go but I am not paying double the price to get half the value just because it is QF.
Last year flew MEL-LAX PE with return from NEW YORK Air New Zealand, and United (do not fly United) $4000 QF wanted to charge $6000.

Air New Zealand seems to have the best PE that I can find but it seems ANZ is reducing PE to CX standard, very sad.

May be. But my personal loyalty that exist to all "made in Australia" does not stretch that far.

If you do not mind Emirates you may fly DXP-ZRH.

I just checked flights and P/E is now bit over 5k, but this is on the Dreamliner, Melbourne - Perth - Heathrow - Zurich.

Prices can be generally high when booking that far out, and Qantas is probably keeping the Dreamliner pricing up as demand may well be strong for that service.
