Why are there no daytime US-Australia flights? - Qantas & Jetstar

An afternoon departure from SYD has previously been done by QF and I agree with the idea behind it. But only really works if QF returns to 2 x SYD departures - which I can only see happening if the QF/AA JV gets rejected again and QF has a spare plane. Though the LAX market is getting pretty saturated and a monopoly route may make more sense.

Qantas have confirmed 4 x 787s for BNE, 2 x to be used to replace the 744s on BNE - LAX, and the other 2 for a new US destination.

Whilst I don't doubt QF will fly the 787 to LA instead of the 747, I'm not sure where they have actually confirmed anything other than basing 4 x 787 in BNE.

I desperately wanted to connect with the one VA daytime flight on Saturday from LAX, but could not get a reliable connection from Chicago. The only option was one 6am flight on Spirit, which has an abysmal on time record so it probably would have failed for me. UA and QF had morning departures from the US in bygone times.
