Mantra Group has announced it has signed an agreement to be taken over by Accor. The deal will now go to share
holders.
The deal is subject to Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board and Australian Competition and Consumer Commission approvals. Shareholders will vote on the scheme at a meeting currently expected to be held in March 2018.
I actually think this is a good move by Accor - it will certainly help me as Mantra have more holiday properties so it opens up options to use points for family holidays!
I love the leclub accor program but hope the program will be accepted at Mantra . They arent at the reffles swissotel and fairmont brands which is a pain
The reason why Leclub is not accepted yet is because of the difficulties merging between the 2 programs. There is great resistance from the other side as well because members often have bad feelings of Accor. It will happen eventually and many indications point to 2018 being the last year that the programs are separated. Also note that Accor is going through a reduction in elite members as there is a higher level of spend (number of nights stayed does not change) to around 5600 Euro's plus each year for platinum.
One would think Mantra should be much easier as was like when they purchased MIRVAC properties.
I am holding on 1 more year at plat but if no changes next year I will drop down as the level of attainment does not equal the benefits currently on offer.
The thing that annoys me about Le Club (and some other hotel programs) is that you only get the points etc if you book via their website. That excludes me (and many other travelers I suspect) as my employer uses a central booking system. So, I just avoid Accor hotels now unless there is no other choice. At least I get free wifi... woohoo!
