Given Air Canada manages almost daily flights to three Australian cities year round, does anyone have insight why Qantas can only manage a seasonal flight twice a year and that to sydney only?
Just comes down to fleet utilisation, which is especially tight for routes that long. Whether or not QF can justify additional flights to YVR is essentially irrelevant. To launch more flights there they’d have to pull aircraft of other routes that QF operate. Hopefully we’ll see a BNE-YVR as more 789s rock up!
Qantas only has seasonal flights into Vancouver as that is when it is profitable for them to send a 747 out on the route. Once they have cheaper 787s they will likely go Year round

Insufficient demand to pull an aircraft off another route to service daily Canadian flight(s).
