I know I'm a bit late to the party. Having been Platinum and lifetime silver for a few years on Qantas I swapped to Air Berlin a little while back as it was better for being Europe-based. Obviously that's now gone awry.
Anyone know if there's still a chance of a status match with another OW carrier? I'm already *G twice over so no point trying to shift to them.
If you can fly LATAM (are you still based in Europe?) try Frankfurt to Madrid. After that, you can apply for a status match. It seems that if you had flown with them in the last 12 months, then you can request for a status match.
