Hi all,
I am flying to Singapore with QF (EK metal) and I am thinking to connect directly to a 3K (Jetstar Asia) flight to Jakarta. Since I have no luggage, I am hoping to be able to go to Jetstar transfer counter at Changi Terminal 1 airside and get my boarding pass.
Nevertheless, I have also read that because Jetstar is a low cost carrier, one must clear immigration regardless of whether I have check in luggage or not. Anybody has any experience with this? Alternatively, if I am connecting with Garuda, would I be able to do check-in airside?
Any thoughts appreciated!

Yep it's possible, I frequently fly transfer between other carriers and Jetstar/Scoot at Singapore.
Luckily Jetstar Asia (3K) operate a service called straight to gate which allows you to check in online and print your boarding pass at home/hotel/lounge or use a mobile boarding pass.
If you book a Jetstar Asia flight departing from Changi then you should be eligible if the destination is on the straight to gate list and you don't need a visa for the destination. Jarkata with an Australian passport ticks both these boxes so provided you print your boarding pass out earlier or use a mobile boarding pass then going landside if not needed.
