Trolling though the Accor Plus site today I discovered a new perk that has appeared for 2018. Under the summary of benefits for Accor Plus members it states that platinum members get 'Free breakfast in hotels with no executive lounge access (Asia Pacific) ' . Has anyone who holds platinum and Accor Plus received this? I certainly haven't been offered..

I can't see where this is mentioned on their website but I hope it is true. I'm interested to know if it applies to all of their brands or just some? Personally, some extra benefits are definitely needed. I retained platinum for 2018 (on the assumption that Accor would improve the benefits after making it much harder to reach platinum in 2017) and have all but decided to stop being loyal to Accor after numerous issues over the last couple of years and very underwhelming and inconsistent loyalty benefits. Included breakfast would be very welcome! Although I wonder home many properties will proactively offer it? And I wonder how many properties will push back and deny this benefit. For example, in December I stayed at the Bali airport Novotel (which incidentally was the worst hotel I stayed at in 2017) and assumed I would receive complimentary breakfast in the executive lounge, only to be told at check in that they charge for breakfast in the lounge.

Probably my biggest question is if Accor are actually offering platinums included breakfast then why isn't this captured during the booking process? This week I booked a Pullman in Jakarta and during the booking process it prompted me to pre-purchase breakfast (at $94 for two people for two nights). What a waste of money if breakfast is included anyway. And definitely a very poor and dishonest way of treating your best customers. All they would need to do is load a special rate for Platinum members with included breakfast. This would make it so much easier for everyone involved and would avoid any confustion at the hotel.

As far as I understood - Platinum members get free breakfast at hotels that have an executive lounge (eg. Pullman and Sofitel brands). But it is not extended to the hotels that doesnt have an executive lounge (eg. Ibis, Mercure, Novotel..etc). That was my understanding..

That's awesome - about time.

The Sofitel Gold Coast have offered this for some time - and I'm staying there again tonight and when I received a call yesterday confirming my stay they advised that I would be offered breakfast because they don't have a lounge.
Great news though - a welcome benefit.

Stayed at the Grand Windsor in Auckland on the weekend, MGallery by Sofitel but wasn't offered free breakfast alas despite being Platinum.

I've just had a chat with the GM of The Swanston here in Melbourne. I'd decided platinum wasn't worth diddly and recognition both of platinum and a seriously regular guest doesn't exist so I emailed him. I'm working on an IT project that has a gone a 'few' months over and my last stay was number 22 since March last year. Min stay three nights each time. I just wanted somewhere familiar to sleep if anyone is questioning my sanity. He acknowledged there are problems that hopefully the conversion to a Pullman, and separation from the Welcome, will go some way to solving.

Recognition of a face you see every two weeks isn't that hard. Many years ago I worked for Hyatt then Novotel and reckon I did a pretty good job at recognising our regulars.

Regarding free breakfast - I have trouble enough getting my corp rate applied to breakfast so I won't be holding my breath, if I ever return to The Swanston, for a free brekkie!

I'm giving Ascott Group a go for my next three stays.

I understand it's all in the process of being rolled out, and is formally being announce later in the month. Some parts of Accor seem to have got a bit ahead of themselves!

Sounds good, I stay at Pullman on the Park in Melbourne quite often, and they offer a free buffet breakfast for Platinum members even though their Exec lounge provides breakfast.

The theory is that this perk will be gradually rolled out As Accor need to negoiate with hotels. Europe is by far the most complicated and could take years to settle like it did for the free internet. Asia Pacific was more simple considering more hotels have lounges.

I get that it is incredibly complicated to implement these kind of changes. But the reality is that it is 2018 and it is a competitive world. Successful businesses are malleable and can implement changes quickly and efficiently. It's not good enough when reforms are held back by bureaucracy and poor management. Accor updated their loyalty program 14 months ago and we have yet to see a single positive improvement. My partner and I stayed a combined 123 nights at Accor hotels in 2017. This year we will probably stay around 20-30. We are voting with our feet.
