Have a flight coming up on a VA Fokker 100 (no J class) - god bless Adelaide and our slow weekend travel where QF and VA see their regional jets as wise moves.
Any recommendations on seating? Currently have row 1 which may or may not be ideal from what little I have found online some suggest it's almost like an EcoX seat. Being 6'4 I kind of have a thing for leg room!
My experience of flying VA Fokker 100s is on Perth-Kununurra flights of about 3 hours' duration. It's not a bad plane and the seat pitch is very generous (34 inches). My advice would be that the nearer you are to the front, the better: the engines are at the back of the plane and the cabin is noticeably noisier at the back compared with the front. Check Seatguru for more info about the seats.
I found the seat on the Fokker 100 to be quite generous. I don’t like the bulk head as I like to stretch my legs under the seat so I’d go for a forward seat from row 2. I found that more than suitable for a two hour flight from Brisbane to Cairns.
I am a platinum VA flyer but haven't been on a Fokker aircraft (yet). Do any of them have inflight entertainment? I was reading in the inflight magazine that the WA charter planes now have this feature, however I wasn't sure if it was referring to a different aircraft type
"Virgin Australia offers complimentary In-Flight Entertainment across all domestic and international services, with our Wireless In-Flight Entertainment system available on selected Boeing 737-800 and Fokker 100 aircraft and seatback entertainment available on A330 and Boeing 777 aircraft."
For what it is worth folks.. 1E is a pearler for legroom as the bulkhead encroaches minimally in front of this seat so plenty of room to stretch. The downside - the arm rests are not movable and are solid as they include the tray table which is a pain when your backside is is equally impressive as my height!
Only complaint from me is directed towards the unshowered modern hippies in the row behind with toddlers. If you can afford plane tickets, you can afford to shower.
