Does anyone have any advice on how to avoid high taxes and fees when using an award booking out of EU to any of the ME countries? I’m trying to book either F or J using 180k in QF points for 2 pax but the fees are up to €700. Not concerned about departure country or airline but would rather avoid BA as airline.
Have a look at Qatar from Paris to Doha. Nice lounge in Paris, was an A380 flight last time I checked, and taxes flying out of France are lower than from the UK.

Fly SriLankan as they don't have fuel surcharges. BA QR AY IB all have fuel surcharges so they will all have high fees.

The main thing is to NOT depart from the UK, as it imposes a very expensive APD fee. Details here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/rates-and-allowances-for-air-passenger-duty
