Am flying through Abu Dhabi in May with a 9 hour layover. Has anyone had any experience with using Platinum Velocity to access the Pearl Business lounge with a guest?

Salty, with a nine-hour layover I'd totally go explore Abu Dhabi. The Sheikh Zayed mosque around 20 minutes from the airport is an absolute stunner, and there are regular tours leaving from just inside the main portico. (I don't know if mosques have porticos, but just ask.)
The Yas Island, F1 track and Ferrari World site is very close to the airport and worth a visit if you're a petrolhead.
Also: at AUH, are you flying in and out of T3? The lounges there are better than T1.

Thanks for the hot tips John. Am actually having a stopover on the way back. My trip over arrives at Midnight, so doubtful much will be open for exploration in the wee hours of the morning, unless someone knows of something that is. Not travelling Business class on the way back, any experience with using Platinum Velocity to get you and a guest into Business lounge?

Abu Dhabi airport is quite a small airport compared to others in the world, and the Etihad Business class lounge is very overcrowded! Maybe you should do a stop over on the way as well! I only had a short transfer in Abu Dhabi in the wee hours of the morning recently, and there wasn't much to do. Split your trip up...and consider taking another stopover or just stay at the airport...
