Hi All,

My Aunt has given me two qantas complimentary lounge passes to use in the next 2-3 months. I will be using this on my trip to Singapore next month 28th July (Flying Economy/PE)

I have seen some articles stating people have been turned away due to over crowding of their Singapore lounge and told to go elsewhere such as BA lounge.

Just wanted to know... >

If Qantas does indeed turn me away due to this reason, will I be able to visit another lounge with my complimentary pass or can qantas give me a pass to use in another lounge? (Please note: I do not have any frequent flyer status with qantas or oneworld as to why I'll be using these passes)

Thanks, Benjie :)

No, not a chance.

Even Qantas is very strict about their usage in their own lounges. For instance, the Qantas Business Lounge at LAX won't accept these complimentary Lounge Passes, for that Lounge is really a OneWorld Lounge that is merely operated by Qantas.

Qantas will give you access to the SATS Lounge next door if the Qantas lounge is busy, but you'll have to visit the Qantas lounge first to seek entry or receive a SATS pass.

Personally I would not 'cash in' the Qantas pass for the SATS lounge, If they turn you away due to capacity, hold onto the pass and use it another time if possible.

Hi Benjie - yes, in peak times (evenings) a Qantas Club lounge pass may well see the pass-holder turned away, see https://www.ausbt.com.au/qantas-singapore-lounge-overcrowding-sends-passengers-elsewhere – Qantas is using the SATS lounge for this, you'd not be allowed into the BA lounge.

As Lost-in-SIN has already suggested above, if there's another chance your aunt can use the Qantas Club pass then she may be better off keeping it, skipping the SATS lounge and checking out the terminal itself as this has plenty of options for a light meal, a drink and just go for a look around.

The situation at LAX isn't relevant to the post here. QF have acknowledged capacity issues at SIN and are directing QP members and those using complimentary passes to other lounges such as the SATS lounge if necessary.

QF explicitly mention that one cannot use the complimentary passes at LAX.
