For those who may be interested, between July 7 and August 31 Qantas will be operating the new 787 Dreamliner twice daily on domestic services between Melbourne and Brisbane. Visit the Qantas website to see the applicable flight numbers and times.
Anyone knows why 787s are fitted in this domestic route? Is it a peak season or this is a temporary arrangement before operating in international routes? Thanks.
The 5th 787 is due to be delivered early July. The BNE-MEL route suppprts the BNE base startup and circulating aircraft through the routes out of MEL until they have the 6th 787 and start BNE-LAX services.

Are just two 787 enough to do BNE-LAX-JFK services?

They currently do that route with two 747's, so I'd say so.

Wish they would put them on the PER-BNE-PER instead of nearly 5 hours in a single 737-800

Blast! I just booked a trip to BNE-MEL-BNE last week too, and the 787 is the 2nd flight after the one I chose. :(
