There was a story on here recently saying that Garuda will getting new 777-300ER aircraft to fly from Aus to Gatwick with one stop. I haven't heard anywhere that Royal Brunei are heading that way too - they currently operate to Heathrow with a quick 'fuel stop' in Dubai, I don't think it adds too much to the overall journey time.

Hi, I'm from Brunei so maybe I can shed some light.
Royal Brunei currently server London from Brunei with one stop via Dubai, so from Melbourne to London it is a two stop journey with a 777-200.
The 787's are due in September of this year, alongside the completion of the upgrade to the airport terminal. The 787's will be 3-3-3 in Economy, and 2-2-2 in Business with lie-flat bads (unconfirmed if they are fully flat yet).
Royal Brunei currently operate 4 777's (originally 5) on their daily routes to Melbourne and London and the seasonal route to Jeddah. It was originally said the 5th 787 will be used to high demand routes, such as Shanghai but it is still unsure weather Royal Brunei will take delivery of the fifth 787.
Royal Brunei has always operated a one stop service to London, as the 767's (before they took delivery of the 777's) required the fuel stop, but they decided to keep the stop when the recieved the 777's as they enjoy healthy demand on the Dubai-London route (and a significantly cheaper alternative to EK, BA and VS). It is rumoured they will be dropping the stop but it is unconfirmed. My guess is they will operate non-stop on certain days, and direct on others.
Also note that Royal Brunei is changing some of the timings for their flights from March, leaving Brunei to London a few hours earlier and making Brunei to Melbourne and overnight flight. This will make the connection time shorter.
