When I landed in JNB it took about 30 minutes to get through immigration, pretty slow process. Flew domestically in and out of CPT but was fairly quick.
I’m a frequent traveller to South Africa. JNB passport can be slow at peak (morning) arrival times, especially for non-citizens. But if you are SQ to CPT, you stay on board in Joburg and clear customs and passport in CPT, which is generally far quicker and quieter.
Thank you both :) Rolling the dice and going with the 2hr transit between arriving in CPT and heading to PLZ. (don't ask why I didn't do JNB to PLZ - brain fart when booking - hard to ignore nicely discounted J class tickets!).
