Hi all. I'm searching for a policy for annual rental care insurance for hiring within Australia. I have a policy that covers rental excesses overseas but am struggling to find one in Australia. Thanks in anticipation of your wise tips.
Hi, I've used domestic annual travel insurance over a number of years. It's usually fairly inexpensive and covers not only car rental excess, it can come in handy if something else happens during your travels.
Our company uses Chubb as I had an issue recently and had to fill out the paperwork our head office sent me, whether or not it is available to individuals I am not sure.
Are you self employed / an abn holder David? If so there are some really good corporate travel products available that will give substantial excess waiver limits. Alternatively some of the annual personal travel insurers give reasonable cover also and quite often allows you to increase (purchase) the limit for hire car excess.
This may be a bit late now, but I use One Cover annual domestic travel insurance which costs me about $200 for family of 5 and covers $6000 in car hire excess, but also covers for travel delay of 6+ hours. I too noticed that lots of domestic insurance no longer covers hire car excess (I'm looking at you travel insurance direct).

Look up Money Maxim - they do excellent hire car excess cover at a fraction of the cost of the car hire providers.
