I have some KrisFlyer Miles expiring soon and I was planning on redeeming on some flights around Asia (Korea to Japan and Taiwan) with Asiana. I have United Gold and was wondering once I’ve booked the reward flight if I could add a United MileagePlus number to the booking to make sure I can enjoy the Star Gold privileges? Has anyone done this before and is it difficult to do?

Yes you can. No problem at all. You can change the FFP number online on some airlines (not OZ I believe), call them, or simply change it at check in.

I do this all the time, although not for status benefit since I have none, but just in case miles might get credited. (No luck so far......)

you can do so at check in. Same for OW flights.

You’ll get the benefits simply by showing your MP gold card at checkin (using the Gold checkin lane) including Gold baggage allowances. I also keep it handy for priority boarding if I’m not already in BC.

I’m in exactly the same situation - (lifetime) Gold with United but accumulating points via credit card with SQ. The checkin agent may or may not update the PNR but sadly I’ve never received mileage credit for a redemption ticket on either SQ or TG. The lounges will swipe the card for you if your boarding pass doesn’t show it (when I say “swipe” I mean if you have the physical card rather than the digital version in your Apple Wallet)
