Qantas FF, QC member and Silver Status. Partner looks like moving to Dubai soon to work for two years so looking at best option for 2-3 return flights a year. Usually fly Qantas to USA/Europe for reasons in first sentence and do like PE service. My options seem to be
1. Emirates flights via Qantas code share for points/status/lounge access but no PE option, only economy really. BC too expensive as regular option
2. Singapore Airlines via Singapore. PE option but no points etc
3. Internal flight to another city in Australia with better direct options ?
4. Other?
Would be a good opportunity to boost Qantas status ( if really worthwhile) but 14 hr economy flights are rough :)
I think from Brisbane I would just go on EK metal and stay with QF as EK economy is not too bad and QF offer you something to work towards: lifetime status.
Yeah thinking same thing . Do flight specials on the QF coded Emirates flight appear through Qantas and if not can you still get special fares on QF coded flights if an Emirates sale?
I would book via Qantas, using EK flights. This will boost your status with Qantas in SC and FF points. A win win. The long flight becomes a distant memory as your credits and points accumulate.
Have been doing CX via HKG to DXB for years. The PE is cheap, but you get Y only on the 7.5 hour HKG-DXB sector. You might check pricing on J, they are consistently ~$2000 cheaper return than QF/EK. Also if doing it regularly, burn some points on the first outbound, then book DXB-AUS returns after that, and save a whole lot more. Two returns in J get you QF gold status. cheers skip

SQ and credit to Velocity would be a good option. Would mean you'll likely hit Gold fairly quickly, especially if flying PE.

Will look into that . Other option would be Cathay Pacific through HKG as have PE and are One World partners ? Not great times though
