I was wondering if anybody could assist me. I will be flying with ANA Economy (fare classes Q and V) and determining which airline I should credit my miles to do. Should I credit my miles to ANA or to another Star Alliance airline. Any help is much appreciated.
What routes are you flying and what class is each route.
Obviously, ANA flights can be credited to Star Alliance partners but also to Etihad, Garuda, Vietnam Airlines and Virgin Atlantic.
If you've got some interest in a Star Alliance program then obviously that's the better option but if you're doing no more flying and just want to maximise the rewards then crediting to a Virgin partner like Etihad would allow use of the miles in Australia.
An example would be SYD-HND-SYD (with the outbound in Q and inbound in V). Such routing would earn 6800 miles on Etihad, just 100 short of an SYD-MEL (or even SYD-ZQN) redemption flight on Virgin Australia (you could purchase an extra 1000 miles for $20).
