Evening all,

Long time lurker first time poster.
Finally hit Gold with QF but my Qantas Club membership expires in January. Given you get access with Gold status there is no point renewing my membership however what if for some reason I do not make Gold at my renewal, would I have to rejoin Qantas club with the joining fee?
Expiry for Gold is November 2019.
Thanks,
Chris

Reaching QFF gold effectively grants Qantas Club membership. In situations where a QFF member is already a QC member prior to reaching gold, the countdown for the remaining time on their existing QC membership is paused.

When and if you drop back to silver or bronze, the 3 months you had left on Qantas club membership will pick up where you left off. At the moment this will be November 2019 and will last until Jan 2020 at which point you can renew as normal.

I would call on occasion to check your Qclub balance is still noted in the system and hasn’t slipped off, it used to be annotated on your profile with the QC expiry date that simply pushed out every 12 months you retain Gold, but not any longer, always best to keep an eye on these things.

I made the mistake of switching to AirBerlin for my OW flights so I dropped down to silver for a few months a while back after years as a gold/plat. They still had my 18 months of remaining QC membership in their system, left over from about 8 years previously. I wouldn't worry.

Don't stress. I had Qantas club membership then went to Gold with one and a half years of my club membership left. I dropped down from gold a few years later and they sent me a new Qantas club card with an expiration date of one and a half years from when I dropped from gold. So to answer your question, you will get the two months of Qantas club membership if you ever drop down from gold and then you can renew (and won't have to pay a joining fee again)
