I am not business traveller. I pay my own flight and I am Qantas Gold (status credit 1080) now. I would like to get Platinum before 31 December 2018. And I also don't have any travel plan till end of year. But I don't mind make one or two trip within Australia or to oversea. what is cheapest and fastest way to reach Platinum (1400 Status credits) before 31/12/18? Many thanks.

Why not fly to Auckland in J, for a couple of relaxing weekends.
SYD-AKL will net you 85 points each way.
SYD-PER in J will get you 80 each way.
Or you could do a return trip in First to HKG for 180 each way...
That's of course, assuming you're travelling out of Sydney.

Look up Alicia Clark - she's a travel agent on a Facebook Group around Travel. Someone might read this comment and know what agency she works for - - she'll craft u a fab status run that'll have you eating fried calimari and tattinger in no time :) Might mean a trip to Noumea.

Thanks MRYJDrake. I live in Gold Coast. But most of my trip is from Brisbane airport.

Malaysian has some wonderful status credit opportunities intra-asia J class. Look up some of the short haul legs to India/HKG/South East Asia from KL. You should be able to make up the SC deficiency for less than $3k.

Flying business class to New Zealand (usually christchurch or auckland) would be a great way to achieve status with short trips. Alternatively, flying to asia like singapore, or hong kong in business would get you there in no time.

What about a few days in Bali flying Jetstar on their J class with the max bundle? I'm pretty sure that would net you 240 status credits for a return trip and I had a quick look it was approx $1,700 return. Then you'd just need to make up the 80sc shortfall somehow.

Then you can get extra points flying to Sydney first!

If you can, fly to Singapore return J from either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, but make sure to fly from one of the three that is not your hometown. This will give you a domestic add on so the journey will result in 400 status credits. Look for lower J fare night flights. Hotels for a weekend in Singapore are not too bad at this time of the year. Good fortune.
