Can anyone give me a genuine reason why some Airlines charge such hugely ridiculous rebooking fees? After all it is mostly done online so no human interface hence no salary or wages component involved. No doubt the main reason might be because they simply CAN.
They are highest on discount tickets. They are the reason for people buying the more expensive flexible fares. The way around that I just used is to cancel and take a credit coupon then rebook. The rebook fee is much lower than a cancellation fee and a rebook.

Otherwise it would hurt their flexible ticket business.

Way of making money by airlines. LCC’s I imagine are the worst.
